Mobile Posting

The benefit of using LiveJournal for my clog once again is that I can make use of the mobile bloging features.

Right now I’m at Shirah’s grandparents for Sukkot. Tonight I’ll be in Jerusalem and them we’ll play it by ear. I’ll be back in Ashdod for the weekend.

What a Week

So the past two weeks were way more intense than I had expected. First, the problem with being sent on a week of any random mission/guard duty/assignment/etc is that when you finally get back, you have a week’s worth of work piled up on your desk waiting for you.

I went in for a half day of work today and managed to plow through most of the lingering pieces of paper that required some kind of attention.

I cannot wait for my new laptop to get here. It’ll be nice to be able to check mail on my way to and from base (I miss my smartphone…oh how I miss my smartphone). I’ve been back to my apartment – I think – three times over the past two weeks.

The Jewish holidays fall in rapid succession this time of year, and bring with them an incredible amount of traveling and introspection…it’s the stuff that wandering philosophers dream of. Incidentally, the Jewish holidays happen to be the topic of the next blog post I’m writing…when I’m not paying by the hour a ta net cafe, like I’m doing right now…which is the stuff that make wandering philosophers cry ;-)

Happy Sukkot!!

I should have known on Sunday

Sometimes, there’s nothing you can do but just sort of go with the flow. I woke up tired on Sunday. As I left base Sunday night, I sort of knew it was going to be one of those weeks where I was going to be painfully tired no matter what.

Fortunately, it is almost the weekend…which is an incredibly, incredibly good thing…because I really, really need a good thirty something hours to pass out and recover.

For now, a good six hours should do me.

Peace!

Quick Update

So I’m finally back to blogging (which I find incredibly stress relieving). I’m looking forward to December when I’ll have a normal laptop again (not one that requires an external keyboard) so I can blog and email during my breaks at the office.

I also owe emails to nir1, goodall, psychoticjester, stevenh and foucaultonacid which – barring a repeat of Sunday and Monday’s mid-day office paperwork explosions – should be able to be written during my lunch hour tomorrow. If not, I’ll be able to catch up on email Thursday night. I would catch up on email tonight, but I have language assessments that need to be written up and they refuse to write themselves.

So, in order to distract you from the fact that this is really a teaser post, below I provide links to my updated photo galleries here on LJ:

Sushi Night

Army Life: General

Army Life: My Office

Travels: Israel: Jerusalem

Travels: Israel: Tel Aviv

Being in a Jewish army means that we observe all Jewish holidays. This – with all due respect to the big guy upstairs – plays hell with our work schedule, clogs our work flow and absolutely destroys any sense of normalcy we have. I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to no-holiday-that-I’m-aware-of-October.

Peace, Love & Hummus,

Matan
