At the Airport…

I’m at the airport, attempting to get home to NYC/Long Island for a weekend of family, relaxation, vacation booking, and of course getting the next dose in the vaccine cycle.

Currently, however I’m stuck in BUF Airport. We’re delayed because JFK doesn’t have their shit together. I’m okay with being delayed, I have a tons of stuff on itunes from music to television shows to Jackass: The Movie (Johnny Knoxville has a special place in my heart) so it’s not like I’ll be bored and there’s an airport bar with booze and wings so I won’t go hungry. There’s really no point getting frustrated with things that are totally out of your control, it isn’t really productive.

You’d figure, given the amount of Marine’s I know, that one of them would have the ability to like get a helicopter or something…I need to start meeting generals or something, because this rank and file really isn’t working out for me.

I also got a new book the other day, based on a recommendation of a former teacher:

The author’s profile is fascinating, I’m hoping the book is equally as intriguing…I’ll start reading it on the plane.

Blizzard be Gone, Bag Hacks, Harry Potter

I knew if I made sure that I was all set to be bunkered down for a few days we’d have no blizzard…I’m looking outside, it’s looking like a normal Buffalo night and, really, nothing major to report…it’s cold out (but we’re used to that) but all’s quiet on the Western, New York Front.

In other news, I’ve been hacking my timbuk2 bag recently…I just need one more patch, and it’s totally geeked out…I’ll post pictures shortly…it’s amazing:

There’s a patch that says “Vampire” and over that is the Hogwarts Crest, and then over that I’m getting a patch that says “Ministry of Wizard Linguistics.” I’m gearing up for the last book (and, our last summit…sadly…) which leads me to my current Harry Potter Predictions:

1. I still maintain that Sirius is coming back, I don’t believe he’s dead at all.
2. After a long discussion with my friend Christine, I think that a certain bird (Fawkes) that constantly comes back to life may, in fact, be a horcrux…I understand the arguments against it, but there’s some pretty neat arguments for it as well (Guy Fawkes Day, among others)…and it doesn’t mean that it couldn’t be another phoenix.
3. Neville is not going to die, he’s finally coming into his own.
4. I think Ron is going to die.
5. Harry & Ginny in the epilogue are married and with Kids.
6. I think Minerva McGonagall is going to die as well.
7. I think the Weasley Twins are going to be instrumental in saving the day.

I’ll expand the above as we get closer to the date of release. I also predict that after Lizzie (starbuckx) and I are done reading the books, we may cry…but then we’ll share some wine and repeat those eight blissful hours we shared in bed at Carrie’s (irenefinlay) wedding, learning how to love again [/emo]

Okay…so…

Okay, so you know how when a three year old is first learning how to call someone a name, or josh with someone or learn how to trade insults, they’re really awkward at it, sort of choke on their breathe and chortle or laugh during the middle of it? Right…okay, well a certain professor is sort of like that…yes, good old Dr. Z…

I sit in the front row with, arguably, what is turning into a new circle of friends (not that we weren’t all friends before…most of my classes I feel like I’m sitting with thirty or so close pals) but…we’re the front row students…the students he pretends aren’t there because we know the right answers, and we raise our hands when we know he makes a mistake…the first time I pointed out that he made a mistake (in the manner in which is deemed appropriate at an academic institution) he called me a jerk by saying “I could call you a jerk, and then not reference it….::long winded rant::…you know, it’s amazing, I was speaking with a colleague the other day and we were discussing what you could call students without having them realize it…” and then he giggled…yes, he giggled…hahaha, he made a funny…except, I’m very sure that I realized he called me a jerk…okay, fine…no big deal.

Well, Today, we’re not sure, but we think he made up a word to call me that may be like how my aunt calls her students Buster (only because she can’t call them little bastards)…so he calls me this word (I don’t even remember what it is, it’s in my notes somewhere), turns toward the board, and all the heads in the front row turn towards me…I shrug my shoulders…I have no idea what the hell he’s saying…and, more importantly I have no idea what just happened…and even when he called me a jerk, I laughed…because he’s so, incredibly, bad at name calling that he sounds like a three year old…I mean, it’s…sort of cute in a fucked up way…I mean, at least…he’s trying to be cool and hip…maybe?…sort of? I dunno…

Okay…so…

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone :o)

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone :o)

Even if you’re single (like me…and apparently a large portion of women, given recent surveys that have been appearing on CNN.com) it doesn’t mean that someone doesn’t love you!

Your friends, family, maybe even some of the professors at your school or secretaries at your office and that creepy guy who sort of stares at you as you walk by his apartment on your way to the metro, they all love you! Regardless of whether you’re single or not, polyamorous or monogamous, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

So, if you have your eye on that special someone, Today’s the day to leave a card…even if you chicken out and sign it as a secret admirer. If you don’t have your eye on that special someone, brighten up someone’s day or do a random act of kindness, you’ll feel awesome (I promise you!).

Carnations, Candy, Condoms & Hearts to everyone!

P.S. I’m taking away all of the bad calories from candy today, magical powers that were bestowed upon me ages ago by the all powerful dark lord Xenu. Hail Xenu!

Ohh, I just checked…

I also have a ton of pasta, pasta sauce, and I have a bottle of wine…I don’t have to leave my house for days. Normally I don’t go this far out of my way to be prepared, but after last October’s Thundersnow and with the High Wind warnings, the area that I’m in is on the Outskirts of University Heights and whenever the wind blows really, really hard we lose power so I’ve made sure that I can be comfortable if we loose power again…last time I was without power for two weeks…at least I’m going home to NYC/LI this weekend :o)
