So 40 or so sirens just drove by…

So 40 or so sirens just drove by, which is why I’m up (well that, and my body doesn’t realize it can relax yet so I’m still getting up a few times a night out of stress, but this will change soon). My apartment complex is directly between two main roads so I’m used to sirens, just nothing like what drove by (sadly, or fortunately as the case may be, whatever was going down wasn’t on my block…so no firemen for me).

Anyways, game plan for Friday:
(After I get up again)
RKO (Swing Time) With Breakfast
Hang out with Alice
Laundry & Pack for NYC

Game plan for Saturday:

Head for the airport (!0am)
Arrive in NYC (1pm-ish)
Get Pizza (1:30PM)

And once again it’s quiet, the University Clock Tower (which I can hear from my apartment) struck 4am 19 minutes ago, which means it’s now time for bed 🙂

peace!

Wow, so much to write about

So much to write about; however, I brought the 179 page monster to Wolf Wölk today (who was, slightly loopy, as he just came from the Dentist and was still a little full of Novocain so really, I felt like I was in good company ’cause I haven’t been to bed…since whenever that last time I went to bed was) however; he looked at the paper, spoke with me about it and said he’d be more than happy to give me the grade of I/B (which stands for Incomplete/B).

What that means in UB terms is that I have Six Months to make up the work, or the Incomplete converts to a B. Essentially, I could choose to not finish the paper (though after dedicating 179 pages to the topic and god knows how many calories, that would seem rather foolish) and still pass with an okay grade…however, that’s not my style so I’ve set the date (tentatively) to turn it in to him July 20th (as we’re both out of the country for the month of June and that’s when it’s convenient for both of us to meet in July).

For my Independent Study next year with him; I’ll be conducting and Attitude Study on Chick Track Sheets.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been given the TAship with Scott Paauw (which is just awesome, and something I’ll go into more detail on later, after I’ve had sleep and can once again form proper sentences) and I’ve been moved to the Applied Linguistics track (which makes me really, really happy…and is also something I’ll talk about…later).

For now, however, as I anxiously await my grade from Jürgen for Linguistic Anthropology I am going to go read…for pleasure…and let this Eminem paper sit for a week so I’ll pick it up after I get back from New York City and then Toronto right before I head back to Toronto for Yaoi North.

In other news that makes this semesters grades (so far)
B+, A-, B (moving to an A at some point) and whatever Jürgen has in store.

Okay, reading, then nap…looooooooooots of nap.

Oh: Let’s go Sabres!

Wow! Time to celebrate!

So I got an email from my advisor (Dr. Jaeger), Scott Paauw requested me to be his TA for LIN315…which means I now have a TAship for my final semester (something I wanted, since I haven’t TAd since my Junior Year); and she reviewed my progress and the courses I’ve taken and apparently I’ve done well enough, and taken the right courses to be upgraded from the Language, Society & Communication Track (the lowest track) to the Applied Linguisitcs Track (second to the highest track: the highest track is the honors track). All this, and an independent study (providing Wolf doesn’t kill me today, which remains a very, very large posibility given that I’m not done transcribing and this beast of a paper is way out of control and I’m already finding errors that if anyone were to present in a class my hand would be the first raised so now I have to go back and correct them…)…I’m…elated.

:o)

I’ll pick the beast back up to look at it at 1:00pm and work through 3:00pm; then after my meeting (when I’ll know where I stand with Wolf) I am taking the worlds longest nap, and then I’m flooding Jackie’s email box since I have about 20 emails saved up in my drafts folder with her name on it…and then, if I can find enough change lying around the apartment…chinese food.

More Later 😀

10 Hours Left to Go…

And we’re approaching our final edit. At 06:00 I’m taking an hour long break to clear my head, so I can look at the paper with fresh eyes at 07:00 to see if I’ve missed anything major before starting the final transcriptions at 09:00 I turn this in at 15:00; I should be out of his office by 16:30 and in bed by 17:45…what a day.

More later.

Stupid Manatees…

Had to deal with the second Manatee the other day; the poor dear was making up students again…a trick she learned from the first Manatee…I told her what to tell her imaginary students, should they come and talk to her (in her head) again…

Manatee Rule of the Day: “Never poke, prod or stab a manatee with your hands, feet or any object,” failure to follow the rules may result in a 10,000 fine (Source).

Paper of Doom (POD): 176 Pages, but all the data is entered. Which means that so long as I make sure to work in brightly lit areas, it won’t reproduce in the darkness. The POD is also printed so I now have numerous digital backups and the hardcopy backup (which I’ll be using to complete the transcription notations as well as general editing).

Okay…back to work…it’s due in 19 hours…woohoo!!

“To Conquer The World With an Army of Flying Monkeys is NOT an Appropriate Career Choice…”

…why not? They’ve never explained why it’s not an appropriate career choice. Pessimists.

In other news…27 days until I’m in the Middle East enjoying both the spoken and unspoken language of the guys there, 16 Days until I’m in Toronto presenting at Yaoi North, Three days until I’m in New York City/Long Island for my Dad’s Award Dinner and Today and Tonight to finish this paper.
