NomadMatan.net Syndication & Other Information

Hey Gang,

Given LJs recent push for content flagging, and last summer’s ‘strike through’ I’m moving fully to my blog at my site at NomadMatan.net.

If you’d still like to read my entires through LJ you can subscribe to my LJ feed which pyrop created (thanks Brent!). If you’d like to still interact, leave comments, etc you can register on my site. I will still be reading your posts through my nomadmatan account, but I will no longer be posting on here.

4 Things :o)

1. I am now the proud new owner of a C.F. Martin & Co Backpacker Guitar. I don’t know how to play guitar (yet) but I think being on a kibbutz, sans computer and television (well, not like I own a TV now either) is the perfect time to learn. Guitars just bring people together…plus it makes teaching English to younger kids fun.

2. Today is my last day actually teaching with Scott…then the students in the course start presenting their semester long research. I’m excited to see what they’ve come up with.

3. I’m madly, madly in love with Fred Astaire…this isn’t so much news, but something that probably bears repeating…I need to get a copy of the Gay divorcee on DVD before I head to Israel.

4. My Phonetics Project is going swimmingly!

Now, maybe some more sleep.

Phonetic Spectrographic Analysis: Complete

I’m done with the Phonetic Spectrographic Analysis. Three pages long, single spaced, Times New Roman, font size 12. For those of you curious, I had to read something that looked like this:

I had to analyze it, explain why each segment was what I thought it was, and say what it said. This is not the actual spectrogram I had to decipher, but is for illustration purposes. Forensic linguists use this to determine your height and whether or not you’re faking your accent. I am not a forensic linguist (yet)…but catch up with me in twenty or thirty years.

Now, I’m going to bed for two hours, so I can wake up and go to class, then transcribe Tagalog for an hour, then class for two hours, then transcription for another hour, then a meeting for work for god knows how long…then taking Jeruen out for Dinner to thank him for being my language informant for the semester.

Peace all.
